Course Overview

This instructor-led Microsoft Power Platform Fundamentals course introduces the business value of Power Platform and its principal products. Delegates explore how low-code technologies, data services and AI-powered capabilities can support app development, process automation and customer engagement. The course reflects Global Knowledge's July 2026 syllabus and is intended for learners at the beginning of their Power Platform journey.

Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages, Power BI, Dataverse and Copilot Studio are introduced within real-world business scenarios, with particular attention to environments, governance, security, agent capabilities and the ways Microsoft Power Platform services work together.

Target Audience

Suitable for business users, team leaders, analysts, aspiring app makers and IT professionals who want a foundational understanding of Microsoft Power Platform. Previous development experience is not required.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, delegates should be able to:

• Explain the business benefits of Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages, Dataverse, Copilot Studio and related Power Platform capabilities.
• Recognise how connectors and low-code tools integrate business data and services.
• Describe Dataverse tables, columns, rows, relationships and supported business logic.
• Explain environments, security, governance, monitoring and application lifecycle management.
• Differentiate canvas apps, model-driven apps and code apps, including AI-assisted development approaches.
• Identify cloud and desktop flow scenarios, triggers, actions, approvals and Copilot-assisted automation.
• Explain how Copilot Studio agents use topics, knowledge, tools and agent flows to support business tasks.
• Identify suitable areas for further study and prepare for the current Microsoft PL-900 examination.

Module 1: Business Value of Microsoft Power Platform

• How Power Apps, Power Automate and Power Pages support business processes.
• The value of Dataverse, connectors and data-driven business solutions.
• How Copilot Studio agents, generative AI and Plan designer can improve productivity.

Module 2: Microsoft Dataverse

• Dataverse as a secure, structured business data platform.
• Tables, columns, records and relationships.
• Business rules, Power Fx and Power Automate as approaches to business logic.
• Forms, views and AI-assisted table creation with Copilot.

Module 3: Power Platform Governance and Administration

• Power Platform environments and resource organisation.
• Security models, data access, privacy and accessibility.
• Monitoring, analytics and governance fundamentals.
• Application lifecycle management and Power Platform pipelines.

Module 4: Microsoft Power Apps

• Choosing between canvas apps, model-driven apps and code apps.
• App design for different business needs.
• Creating and refining app experiences with Copilot and natural language.

Module 5: Microsoft Power Automate

• Comparing cloud flows with desktop flows.
• Common scenarios involving approvals, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, Forms and documents.
• Understanding flow triggers, actions and the cloud flow designer.
• Creating and adjusting cloud and desktop flows with Copilot assistance.

Module 6: Copilot Studio Agents

• Business scenarios for conversational and autonomous agents.
• Agent knowledge sources, tools and secure access to organisational data.
• Agent interaction flows and integrations with supported MCP servers.
• Agent flows for predictable automation, agent analytics and evaluation.
• Designing, building, testing and deploying agents with natural language and low-code tools.
